Artist Statement

The main idea that guided my artwork was drawing with charcoal and ink. I had to draw my pet as realistically as I could and work with the different materials to layer and create shadows and highlights.

The work was made with Ink and Charcoal on Watercolor paper.

The process to make this started with doing sketching each box out in charcoal. Then I would use a paint brush to blend it out and then Id go over all of it with the white charcoal to add in the highlight. I did the entire paper like this box by box going left to right and then I went over the darker parts in Ink.
