Artist Statement:
The main idea that guided this artwork was to draw my shoe from three different angles: the front, side, and from the top. I was supposed to draw these but only draw the lines that I see. No shading or little things like that, just only drawing the lines and to show the depth of them I would draw the lines darker and lighter.
This work was made with graphite pencil on just normal drawing paper.
For these pieces, I did no research. I just took off my shoe and then began drawing it from the angels that I was supposed to. For the side angel, I had to prop up my shoe just so I could see the entire thing. I drew everything that I saw in a very light line and then went over it again and made certain parts darker or thicker. For the front view, I just turned my shoe around and drew the shape I saw. I then filled in the shape with the other lines that I saw. For the aerial view, I just looked above my shoe and drew it. I found myself having to stand up multiple times to makes sure I was seeing the shoe correctly.
