The main idea that guided my artwork was the assignment we were given. This assignment was to draw from life; meaning not copying a photograph but draw what we see in real-time. For my self-portrait I drew myself in the mirror on my phone camera, for the still life I drew the mannequin on the shelf in the art room, and for the Corner of the room, I drew the corner of my kitchen.
Each piece was made with only graphite pencils.
My process for these was to literally just draw what I saw. I didn't research anything but made several revisions as I drew. When doing the corner of the room I would often stand up and look at the corner from different angles to see if I were drawing it correctly from my angle. For my self-portrait, I decided to draw mine from a bit of a side perspective because I thought it would be more interesting. However, it was like 2:00 am when I drew it and I was very tired, and looking back it is super unproportional.
