The main idea that guided my artwork was shading with color. We started with just shading spheres to learn how to mix colors to show depth and shadows and then we drew pieces of candy.

The shaded spheres were made with a marker, colored pencil, and watercolor on watercolor paper, and the Candy Still Life was made with colored pencil on printmaking paper.

The process started with using a light color to shade the base of whatever object I was drawing. Then for the spheres, I would go over that with a separate color that was darker because that was what we were supposed to do. For the Candy Still Life, I would use the same color but push it down harder to make it darker. I didn't do any research but I did a lot of experimenting with the spheres to see what color combinations looked most real and how to blend them to show depth.
