"Save the Hotdogs!!"
Watercolor and Sharpie

Artist Statement
The main idea that guided my artwork was the prompt I was given which was "An antsy snake chasing a hungry elf climbing up a palm tree." What this piece is trying to say is that the elf is very hungry and although he's frightened by the snake he will go to a far extent (defying gravity and running up a tree) to save his snack.
The first material I used was a pencil to sketch out my idea. Then I traced over my work with a sharpie to make my lines bolder and more visible. Following, I erased my original pencil sketches and lastly, I added color with watercolors.
My process for this piece started with an idea. I had my prompt but there were so many ways that I could have approached it, so I had to choose which way would work best. I researched images of palm trees, elves, and snakes to get a basic idea of what each looked like. From there I just decided to freehand it and I ended up with this. I made a couple of revisions with my original sketch but after that, it pretty much made no edits.
