Artist statement

The main idea that guided my artwork was the duck stamp contest we had to do. I had to choose a certain duck and draw it as realistically in its natural habitat as I could. Nature and more specifically the Canvasback duck guided me.

This work was made with colored pencil on bristol board.

The process to create this started with researching all different kinds of ducks. After some research I chose to draw the Canvasback duck because I liked the way the male ducks looked. After that I had to decide how many ducks I wanted to draw and where I was going to put them. I also had to decide which materials I would use. I chose colored pencil and used a lot of reference photos to guide my artwork and inspire me.
