Artist Statement

The main idea that guided this work was using 84 different shades of colors. I was very inspired by a picture I saw on pinterest of a chess board so I used that as an inspiration but changed the colors up. I was also inspired by a Taylor Swift lyric (LoL) that goes "The rest of the world was black and white But we were in screaming color." I made everything else in the picture black and white besides the chessboard and pieces based off of this lyric.

This artwork was made with graphite and acrylic paint on canvas.

The process for creating this artwork consisted of a mixing a lot of paint. I did a sketch first and in each square of the chess piece I marked either dark or light. I then went down the list on the paper and mixed each shade putting the light colors in the boxes marked light and visa versa for the darks.
