Wire Sculpture

To create this sculpture I used wire, wire cutters, and needle-nosed pliers. I used the thicker wire to create the structure of the shoe and the thinner wire to create the details like the holes for the laces. I started with the sole, which required wrapping the thicker wire, and then created the rest of it.

When creating this piece I used the element of line to create the whole shoe and to fill the planes of the shoe. To create the basic structure of the shoe I also used the element of space. I created balance within the shoe when choosing where to place the flowers and where to add more details like the holes for the laces. I also created contrast with the different thicknesses of the wire in the parts of the shoe.

I am proudest of my flower designs since they took so much time to create. I struggled with twisting the smaller wire to connect it to the rest of the shoe. However, I was able to do this more easily once I used the pliers for the thinner wire too.
