Extended Blind Contour Drawing

Pastel Peaks, 11.5x17

The materials I used for my extended blind contour drawing were an ink quill, a sharpie, paper, and water. The way I made my work was that I started off trying to see how I could build off of my blind contour drawings and connect them. One of the eyes I drew reminded me of a bird a bit so I tried to picture what the bird would be soaring above. To incorporate more of the lines I decided to make the ink run down the page with water along the lines.

In my Extended Blind Contour Drawing I used line and shape in most of my drawing such as with the clouds and mountains. I also used color on the mountains, lake, trees, bird, and ink streaks. I used space with my distribution of the ink and mountains and used color to create contrast between the mountain ridges and the face of the mountains. I created unity by using the ink streaks theme throughout the whole piece and only used a limited range of colors.

I struggled a bit with filling the space but I was able to fill more of it with the ink streaks. I am most proud of the lake because it was hard from me to get the angle right but I was able to use the trees to emphasize the depth and perspective.
