Sustained Investigation 1

I've Got You Wrapped Around My Finger

plaster, string, paper, India ink, spray paint

The main idea that guided my work was to create a piece that shows the interaction between a human hand and harsher parts of life which are represented by the red, blood-like colors used throughout the piece. The "harsher parts" can be interpreted in different ways such as physical violence or mental/emotional manipulation depending on what the viewer wishes to take away from it.

The materials I used were plaster to create the hand. I used string, paper, and India ink to create and attach the heart to the hand. I used spray paint to create the background.

The processes I used were experimentation with using ink on plaster. I revised the background when the white paint cracked and tied it into the hand by using red spray paint.
