Self Portrait Block Print

To create the linocut prints we were asked to create a print of ourselves using a carving tool, a picture of ourselves, and a linoleum block. I started with my face and then added some texture to the background.

In this piece, I used space to create balance in the background. I also created contrast between the darkness of the print and the background in the extended background pieces.

I am proudest of my background in the Sea of Life print, mainly the fish. I struggled with creating a clean print. I used less ink which helped get a cleaner print.
