Artist statement:

For this project, I based the sculpture on a pail. To be honest their was no real reason for choosing a pail except for the fact that I knew I could probably attach the wire and figure out a concept this way instead of having to create a well known complicated object. To be honest I don’t really know how this relates to my life except for the pail that reminds of the ocean and I really love the beach. Trying to use the wires to attach and make a sculpture was definitely hard. This is probably the hardest project I’ve had to do this year because of how hard and how much you have to squeeze the wire to make sure their are no gaps and space between the fish hook loops.

The materials for this project are pretty straight forward. The short answer is wire. The long answer is that we used different sized pieces of wire to hinge and hook together to create a sculpture. We also used small needle nosed pliers to form the wire. The pliers were helpful in the process of the wire forming because that way I could take the wire and turn it into 3d shapes specifically my beach pail.

The process for this project was very difficult because you had to make sure there were NO bubbles. So you had to make sure the wire was fully closed to make sure it wasn’t wiggly or wobbly. Such as the fact that when making the pail I had to make sure that each of the 3in. wire pieces were secure. If I were to do this project again I would try to choose a more creative object to make a sculpture based on. My next step for the pail piece of art is to make sure that it is standing more up right. I think that another step would be to make sure that the structure is more sturdy because not only was it not standing up right but it was about to completely collapse.
