Final thoughts:

This year in 2d art and design I have learned a lot about art, but I have learned more about my artistic ability and my creative artistic ideologies. In foundations of art, the lessons were much more structured so I really enjoyed being in 2d and getting to experiment with what kind of art I like to do and what kind of art I'm good at. I have been most successful with graphic design products. I have really good control over the mouse pad and I take the patience to match each color and section if doing a picture like my photoshop portrait. I am also really proud of the sketches I have been able to create. I feel like my sketches help my art become better. When looking at my portfolio from foundations of art vs. my portfolio from 2d art and design you can see a significant difference in the effort and detail put into each project. I am excited to see how much more my art can evolve over time.

I have struggled with doing realistic drawing forever. My work always ends up looking more cartoon-like or playful, I would really like to learn to make it more realistic. I really wanted the dress and the flowers in the fashion #2 project to be more realistic but no matter what I did it always turned out like a cartoon. In the end, I was happy with that piece of work but I would have been happier if it could have been jaw-dropping realistic. I struggle with this because of the shading and attention to detail in a microscopic way. I don't always pay attention as much to each tiny piece of the picture which I think causes problems with the way I want the final product to look.

My artistic goals are to keep up with art. One of the most important parts of art is having a strong art muscle and the only way to exercise it is to do art. Even if it is just keeping a sketchbook, I feel like my art could get exceptionally better. I think experimenting with materials helps with creativity as well so maybe I will try to get more diverse with my media choice. I also love the idea of learning how to do more hands-on 3d art. I know that most all art is hands-on but doing something like pottery sounds really interesting to me. That is a goal of something for me to try.
