“We are raising £35,000 to fund a cochlea implant to improve my hearing so I'm able to recognise speech, teach, socialise and localise sound better & manage tinnitus.”

A cochlea implant would help enormously with almost all of the effects, but is only available on the NHS if my good ear was worse which may happen in the future.

The surgery, technology and follow up appointments come to £55,000 an amount Alice does not have at the moment. In order for the implant to be effective, it should be implanted within 1-3 years of hearing loss.

I would love to be able to teach properly again, something that is a big part of my identity, and also socialise outside of home without the frustration. I'd also love to stop asking people to repeat themselves, enjoy the evenings without tinnitus taking over and bypass the listening fatigue I get currently from having to concentrate so hard!
