Semana 3.
Lunes 1/18 - No School
MLK Day
Martes 1/19 - Alphabet
Bellwork: Slide 6 here
Translations: Using this paper here, translate everything to the opposite language without using your notes. While students were translating, I was rolling a dice -- every time I rolled the number "uno", students had to change the way they were writing (non-dominant, one-finger, no fingers, etc).
Notes: Spanish Alphabet (here), with emphasis on the vowels (here). Take note that there are 4 letters in the Spanish alphabet that don't exist in the English alphabet -- ch, ll, rr, ñ. Also note that each vowel is pronounced very differently in Spanish than you're used to in English.
Practice: Read this short paragraph here out loud to yourself. Try to sound out the vowels that we learned in class today. Split into two groups -- Group 1 translated it, Group 2 took turns reading it out loud as a class.
Homework:
Miércoles 1/20 - Me gusta
Bellwork: Slide 7 here
Notes: Gustar
Me gusta = I like
No me gusta = I don't like
Me gustan = I like (multiple things)
No me gustan = I don't like (multiple things)
Gustar Practice: For each word on this slideshow, tell me if you like or dislike it in Spanish. You will use one of the four options listed above as your answer. here
Picture Talk: For each of the photos in this slideshow, tell me any Spanish words that come to your mind (here). List of possible categories you can draw from can be found on the first slide.
Work: Each slide on this powerpoint here has a Spanish word on it. Search google for a picture to represent each word and copy/paste it onto the corresponding slide. For the last 5 slides, choose any Spanish word we have learned so far and put that on the slide first, then find a picture to go along with it. Due before class ends.
