Socialism is a terrible way to run a country, because it doesn't work, and it is unfair. In the 2008 International Encyclopedia of the Social Sciences, socialism is defined as a political ideology that endorses the equality of power. Socialists believe that any difference in the amount of wealth people have indicates that there exists inequality in power. Their solution to this is to make sure that wealth is distributed so that everyone is equally wealthy. This is done by taxing people with higher paying jobs more. They believe that if everyone got the same amount of money regardless of their job, the world would be happy and fair.
The first problem with socialism is that it always fails. In a capitalist society, people work hard to make money so that, the harder you work, the more money you make. In a socialist society, it doesn't matter how hard you work because you will be paid the same regardless. A hard working person in a socialist society would never be paid more because it would be "unfair" for one person to be paid more than another. This gives people no incentive to work, so people become lazy. Not only does socialism always fail, it is morally wrong as well. Socialists are lazy people that just want money without work. It is stealing because some people work very hard but, their money has to be taken from them because there cannot be any inequality in wealth. This is basically the poor people stealing from the rich people that work hard. Many people in America today have started to root for socialism. This is partly because they have never lived in a socialist country. They want things like free college and healthcare. This sounds nice but it is not free. Someone has to pay for it and it is the people that work hard. The more social programs the government offers, the higher taxes will be and the more the government will steal from the rich. America was built on the backs of hard workers and the idea of freedom. Socialism goes against both of these ideas and therefore, it has no place in America.
