John was born in Nevada and went to a high school outside of Las Vegas. While in school, he was obsessed with a girl in his class so much that he was a stalker. Once they graduated, they parted ways, and he did not think he would see her again. He thinks about the girl, Sydney, everyday even though it’s been 5 years. After college, he decided to leave his home in Arizona and visit Las Vegas to try to find her. He wanted to be prepared, so he drew up plans and found pictures from security cameras and social media. These pictures were plastered all over the walls of his apartment, and he was ready to try and find Sydney.
One night, he got in his car and drove to Las Vegas. He rented a small motel room near where Sydney lives so that he would be able to see the beautiful woman outside of his building. After about thirty minutes of watching her, he decided to kidnap her and take her back to Arizona. Sydney’s friends could not find her, and they got very worried. They called the police so that they could track her down and see where she could be. They searched through the video cameras around the motel and figured out what had happened.
The police knew they had to find the girl soon or else something very bad could happen to her. They got John’s address and wanted to search his apartment, but the judge who needed to sign off on the warrant was out of town. The police grew more and more aggravated, so they decided to go to his apartment anyways. In the apartment, they found his pictures and files with all of his plans. They then track him down and found that he was in a cabin in the middle of the desert. They then arrest him for the kidnapping of Sydney. His lawyers fight the case saying all the evidence they used against him is not permissible because there was not warrant and that they are not allowed to use the evidence from the house in the trial. Without this evidence the lawyers for the state would not have enough to convict him.
