Those who work within the fast food industry complain about lack of benefits and low pay. Unfortunately for them, there isn’t any room to increase wages because if wages were to increase the owners of the specific chain restaurant would no longer be able to make a profit from their businesses. If the government forces a significant wage increase, the cost would be passed on to consumers. And a steep price increase to fast food would eliminate the entire concept of the cheap, easy, and quick notion that we all know the fast food industry to be.
The fast food industry currently provides millions of jobs for individuals who have limited skills and training, but those workers could eventually be replaced by automation in order to keep costs down. Fast food workers are paid according to their minimal skill level and it is better to have a low-paying job than no job at all. At the end of the day they can all be replaced by machines so it is up to them to figure out which is worth it.
