As Social Media progresses, more people get their information online. Finding things online is easy, but encountering fake stories is becoming more common. It’s a type of yellow journalism that misleads the reader with incorrect facts. It’s hard to spot fake news, for sources can be made up, or people just want to believe it. Ever since the 2016 Presidential Elections, the term has been used more often. Trump even tweeting, ”So much fake news” or , “The fake news is working overtime”.
Many people growing up with the internet have been told, ”Just get it off the internet, it must be right”, but the internet being written by humans, doesn’t always produce the facts. Opinions are presented to look like facts. It may also be used as “amusement”, creating outrageous stories like Trump bans schools to end school shootings or Michael Jordan resigns from the board at Nike, Takes Air Jordans with him. Although some are comedic, some could start real problems, like a “breaking news” story that North Korea starts a full our war.
