I'm a little lady with BIG IDEAS! I look forward to helping you find another way to look at the world! Please contact me (dbroam@gmail.com) to learn more about zipaDeeBee, LLC!
I have been practicing yoga since May 2008. When a colleague began offering yoga practices after school, I was hooked! I felt relaxed and energetic and wanted to learn how to share this gift with young people! I have attended Yoga Kids and Yogafit trainings. I completed "Global Family Yoga At Home," a mentored self-study program, during the spring of 2013. I also completed Pink Lotus YTT through Gotta Yoga Studios out of Charlotte, NC in June 2013. I traveled to IL in 2014 to complete my 95 hours Children Specialty Yoga Certification and a 50 hour "Therapeutic Yoga for Children" training. I am currently a Registered Children's Yoga Teacher with Yoga Alliance and a school counselor at Pleasant Hill Elementary. I live in Lexington, SC with my wonderful husband and four loud and lively "Broamlettes!"
Pink Lotus Yoga Center Teacher Feature
1: What is the most important thing yoga has taught you?
Resilience. At the Broam Home, the "mommy bomb" doesn't go OFF near as much as it did before yoga! Taking a deep breath (or three), allows my brain to do some better thinking. Most of what happens in life is OUT of our circle of control. I appreciate the reminder I'm on charge of what I think, say, and do, and I can DO more YOGA to be my best self. Life is good with self-calm and self-regulation skills. :-)
2: What is your favorite pose and why?
I love Standing Half Moon because I feel like I'm FLYING! It's expansive, yet balancing and develops self-confidence.
3: Describe your teaching style in 3 words.
playful, creative, thought-provoking
4: What is the best piece of advice you have for new yogis?
Grow. Take one small step and then one small step. Give thanks for the opportunity to try something new. Don't measure what you can do on the mat with someone else--I've always come up SHORT when I do . . .
5: What do you like to do off the mat?
Wear silly hats--oops! I wear those at yoga too . . . sing, read, smile, shop for colorful shoes, play with folks of ALL ages . . . even those TALLER than me. :-)
