he West Vancouver School District's Premier Academy is a wonderful program for the student who wants to develop his/her potential as a high performance athlete, or just simply wants to learn and enjoy playing the game of tennis.
Students enrolled full time at Rockridge Secondary or Sentinel Secondary have the opportunity to pursue the passion of playing tennis, while continuing to receive an excellent education. So, for the 'tennis passionate' student, we are very proud to offer this exciting program - the first of its kind in the province of British Columbia!
Program Goals
The primary goal is to provide a formal tennis training program within the academic setting of both Sentinel Secondary and Rockridge Secondary schools to allow for achievement and excellence in sport and education.
The WVSD Premier Academy is a sports program within the public school that offers young tennis players the opportunity to complete their academic requirements in the morning and then the ability to participate in tennis skill development training each afternoon, all during school hours. The program is strictly supplementary to the existing programs run by various tennis clubs.
Eligibility
Students must be registered full time at Rockridge Secondary School OR Sentinel Secondary Schools.
Male or Female
Grades 8-12
A minimum of C+ average is expected academically.
Good to excellent work habits are expected in each subject area.
Good to excellence is expected in the area of social responsibility.
Tuition
$4625 per year or $500 per month - Sept. to May; + $150 - June
September to mid-June (37 weeks)
$32 per year IAP (Industrial Alliance Pacific) Insurance Coverage (24 hours/7 days per week) (OPTIONAL)
Approximately $150 for the Clothing Kit. Each year, students are provided the opportunity to ‘top up’ their clothing items. Parents are not required to purchase a complete kit every year.
$15 for classroom resources (A binder of classroom theory component materials will be provided to each student.)
