AP（Advanced Placement）课程是美国COLLEGE BROAD设计的专为考虑升入大学的中学生开设的大学预科课程。http://apcentral.collegeboard.com/apc/Controller.jpf
一般情况良好的AP成绩可以直接代入大学免掉部分学分，具体情况要看各大学自己的要求。在这点上AP与IB Program中的高级课程（HL)相似。由于AP和IB的课程深度都涉及到大学程度，两种在北美都很流行。美国一些教育评估机构甚至用学生通过AP和IB的人数，作为高中质量的排名标准。关于AP和IB优劣的争论，一直是美国许多论坛的热点。
AP考试，是在每年5月举行。
在BC省569所中学中有151所开办AP课程，就是允许学生提前学习并考试通过相关课程。各校开设的相关AP课程可参考各学校的网站。
The AP Scholar award is granted to students who received AP grades of 3 or higher on three or more AP exams.
