本课程提供一个2年的加速学习机会。
The Gladstone Mini School is a two-year program, for Grades 8 and 9 that provides an accelerated learning opportunity for talented learners at the junior high level. The program emphasizes high academic achievement, creative and original thinking, independence and initiative, and responsibility and leadership.
Successful applicants are self-motivated, able to work co-operatively with others, and value thinking for its own sake. A variety of involvement is important in the Mini School experience. Students are encouraged to contribute voluntary service at either the school or community level.
Students are accepted to either the Humanities Stream, the Math-Science Stream, or both, and they are timetabled into the regular school program for their remaining courses. Upon completing the Mini School program, students may enroll in enriched Grade 11 and 12 classes, Advanced Placement courses, and/ or regular program classes. Students who have completed both streams may also choose to complete graduation requirements in only four years.

Grade 8 and 9
Mathematics-Science Option
Grade 8 and 9
The Gladstone Mini-School offers two options, Humanities and Mathematics-Science, to self-motivated students who possess above-average ability in various academic areas. Both options offer an accelerated curriculum, covering three years of course material in only two years. Upon completion of Year Two (Grade 9), students will be granted Grade 10 credit for their academic courses. Students may apply for either or both of the Mini-School options.
Situated within Gladstone School, the Mini-School promotes initiative, leadership, co-operative and independent learning, service to school and community, and the willingness to tackle academic challenges. The Gladstone Mini-School is a District program, open to students from across the city.
The Mini-School’s prime focus is on accelerated delivery of curriculum. While some courses do offer enrichment activities, the main objective is to offer students the opportunities to complete academic core courses in less time than is normally required in the regular program. This allows students a broader range of elective possibilities in their senior years, which permits students to explore more deeply their particular areas of interest. Another possibility for students who are enrolled in both options is to complete secondary school graduation requirements in four years, rather than the usual five years.
