English 9/10 Accelerated
This course is designed to challenge students with highly developed reading and writing skills, who have a passion for English language and literature. During their grade 9 year, students will be exposed to all major outcomes usually covered in English 9 and in English 10. Upon successful completion of the course, students may proceed to English 11 in their grade 10 year. This will eventually free up a block in either their grade 11 or 12 year, during which they may choose to enroll in a grade 12 elective. In English, we offer Literature 12 and Writing 12.
Mathématiques 8/9
Prerequisite: Gr. 7 French Immersion,
Teacher recommendation and Entrance Exam in March Mathématiques 8/9 is intended for French Immersion students needing an extra challenge in Math 8. Topics in this course will span the entire curriculum of Math 8 and Math 9 in French. Students achieving a C+ or better in this course will be assigned their grade for Math 9 and will proceed to a Math 10 course in their grade 9 year. Students achieving below a C+ will be assigned their grade for Math 8 and will proceed to Math 9 in their grade 9 year.
Foundations and Pre‐Calculus Mathematics 9/10
Prerequisite: MA 8 or MAF 8 ("B" standing recommended)
Able and motivated Math 8 students are encouraged to consider taking both Mathematics 9 and Principles of Math 10 courses in one year. Many concepts of Math 9 and 10 are taught together so that students with a good work ethic and a strong background will be able to grasp and retain these for later use. Students achieving a C+ or better in this course will be assigned their percentage for Math 10 and will proceed to Principles of Math 11 Enriched or Principles of Math 11 in their grade 10 year. Students achieving below a
C+ will be assigned their grade for Math 9 and will proceed to Principles of Math 10 Enriched or Principles of Math in their grade 10 year.
Foundations and Pre‐Calculus 10 Enriched
Prerequisite: Teacher Recommendation
This course is structured to challenge students in the study and application of advanced Math topics. Students will cover the same curriculum as Pre‐Calculus 10 but explore these topics in greater depth. Students planning to study science, engineering or commerce in the future will benefit from this course.
*There will be a selection process for entry in this course. This course has a provincial final exam worth 20% of the final mark.
Pre‐Calculus 11 Enriched

This course should be considered the first year of a two‐year program that leads to the completion of AP Chemistry 12.
This course deals with the topics of Chemistry 11 in greater depth and also includes some topics from AP Chemistry. A heavily lab‐oriented course, Chemistry 11 honours provides an introduction to first year university chemistry. Students should feel confident with their mathematical ability before choosing this elective. Topics include: laboratory safety, calculations and uncertainty, atoms, ions and molecules, stoichiometry, gases, thermochemistry, atomic structure and periodicity, chemical bonding, liquids and solids, properties of solutions and nuclear chemistry.
