Lamar Slips Past Isaacson

On a hot and humid first day of June at Dogwood, Stevie Lamar eeked out a 2 and 1 win against newcomer Cyndi Isaacson. It was a hard fought battle with innumerable key five to eight foot putts and longer approach shots which made for a mentally draining match!

Stevie knew she was going to have to bear down when Cyndi outdrove her on the first hole and took a par to win the hole. The match stayed the same through the 4th hole where Stevie tried to "take out" her opponent by accidentally hitting her with the flagstick. Being right on top of things, Cyndi noted that she was playing mind games with Stevie by purposely walking into the flagstick in the hope that her opponent would get distracted and ease up on her! The foursome enjoyed a good chuckle after the incident!!!

Even though Stevie shot a 1 over par 37 on the front side, she was down by 1 at the turn. Bella Vista's own "Amen Corner" (Dogwood 13, 14 and 15) finally got the better of Cyndi as Stevie won 4 holes in a row to turn the match around. After Stevie hit a poor first putt on 16 though, Cyndi battled back to win that hole. On the 17th tee box, Cyndi forgot to ask her playing partners to take out the 200 yard yardage marker up the hill next to the cart path. Her magnificent drive struck the post square and her ball ricocheted all the way back across the fairway and into the hazard!?! Stevie fared better and managed to win the hole which ended this exciting second round match.
