Burris Subdues Smyth

On Friday, June 3rd at Kingswood, the temperature was 92 degrees and rounds were 5 hours long with the players having to wait on almost every hole. And then to top it off, the match between Glenda Burris and Marianne Smyth went to the 20th hole before Glenda managed a win against Marianne. Marianne was dormie 1 after 17. Then Glenda came back to win the 18th hole and even the match. The players tied the 19th and then Glenda won it on the 20th hole. Marianne said that Glenda "was able to keep it all together and played a great round. Someone has to lose and I played under my handicap and lost to a very good opponent!"

Even though only one player advances, obviously there were no losers in this match! Congratulations to both golfers on playing such a fantastic match ... the best of the tournament to date!!!
