I Won't Back Down

Background

Tom Petty passed away on October 2, 2017. Two days later, John Fogerty performed "I Won't Back Down" live at Encore Theatre in Las Vegas. The version was released as a promotional soundfile on Petty's birthday on October 20th. It was played on the Tom Petty channel of the Sirius XM satellite radio and other radio stations in the USA. 

Written by Tom Petty and Jeff Lynne, "I Won't Back Down" was the lead single from the first solo album of Tom Petty, Full Moon Fever, which arrived in stores in 1989. 

John Fogerty performed with Tom Petty once. They played "I Love L.A." together with Randy Newman and Jackson Browne at Rock And Roll Hall of Fame Induction in Los Angeles on April 18, 2013.

Live versions
