All Mama's Children

Background

"All Mama's Children" is a track Carl Perkins and John Fogerty perform as a duet for Carl Perkins' collaboration album Go Cat Go!. It was released on October 15th, 1996.

Written by Carl Perkins, the song originally came out on the flipside of his 45 rpm single "Boppin' the Blues" in May 1956.

John Fogerty recalls in his autobiography (2015) how he ended up to recording with Mr. Perkins: "--- I was doing a fund-raiser for Bill Clinton, and out of the blue, Carl showed up. He mentioned that he was making a record with Tom Petty. I wasn’t going to let this opportunity go by. I just looked at him, my face a question mark, and I said, “Well… ?” And he looked at me and said,“Well, John, I’d love it if you’d come and do ‘All Mama’s Children’ with me.” Carl knew that was my favorite."

"Great R&R song. Could have been a CCR tune on Cosmo's Factory just like

'My baby left me'."
