Forty-Five Revolutions Per Minute, Parts 1 & 2

Background

"Forty-Five Revolutions Per Minute Parts 1 & 2" is a wacky promotional single Creedence Clearwater Revival launched in around 1970. The disc contains one-joke amalgam of audio verité, psychedelic giggle, DJ patter and messy interviews. The music part repeating the lyrics "Thank you Mr. DJ" could have ended up to any Creedence Clearwater album. A short snippet of the melody of "Lodi" played on keyboard is also heard.

The promo single was released to general public on the Creedence Clearwater Revival box set in 2001. It was also included as a bonus track on the 40th Anniversary CD Edition of Pendulum which came out on September 30th, 2008.

Trivia

The radio personality appearing on the record was a Bay Area Top 40 DJ Tom Campbell.

Live versions

Creedence Clearwater never performed the song live in concerts.

Critical reception

"---as strange and trippy as anything the Beatles ever did and seem to be complete misfits in the CCR catalogue." -J.C. Macek III, Pop Matters, January 10th, 2014.
