Endless Sleep

Background

“Endless Sleep” is a song recorded by John Fogerty in spring 1997. It was initially released on an Australian CD single in June 1997 and as a bonus track of the re-mastered version of the Blue Moon Swamp album in 2004. It features trade-mark Fogerty guitar tremelo and reverb to great atmospheric effect.

The song was originally released by American rock and roll singer, guitarist and songwriter Jody Reynolds in 1958. It was also covered successfully by UK rock ‘n’ roll heart-throb Marty Wilde who took it to number 4 in the UK charts that same year.

Trivia

John Fogerty used a couple of phrases from the lyrics of ”Endless Sleep” in his song “Searchlight” which appeared on the Centerfield album in 1985. "Jody" is also a mythical character showing up in Fogerty's lyrics to such songs as ”It Came Out of the Sky”, “Hey Tonight” and “Almost Saturday Night”.
