Richard Daystrom

On Stardate 1425.2, Dr. Daystrom was aboard the USS Bretagne to test the M-4 multitronic computer, a prototype for the M-5. Once Daystrom had installed the M-4 unit into the Bretagne's main computer, it had convinced the crew that they were experiencing the Kobayashi Maru scenario in real life. Only Commodore Robert Wesley and Lieutenant Commander T'Val were aware the experience was merely a simulation. Soon after, the M-4 was judged "not entirely successful," by Daystrom's standards.
