MBBB6 Vote

For this year, MBBB alum David Struck proposed a unique strategy for planning the day. Since the group generally participates in about four events (not including meals) each year, David suggested that two events be Classic while two be New. Classic Events would be those events that the group had already tried in the five year history of MBBB while New Events would be, well, new events.

The process of collecting all of the Classic Events into a list was very easy because the group has been archiving our exploits ever since we began them. And so the list was quickly constructed, and contained 14 choices. The second part of the process, creating a list for the New Events, then got underway. A huge list of 14 events was compiled after each member threw out a number of suggestions, and then those events which certain members felt strongly towards gained elaborate proposals to boost their support.

This huge vote was conducted via email and the results of this vote are listed below. Much like with frolf, the two lowest scores in each category were the winners. As one might expect, watching a movie finished last thanks to the MBBB movie curse. However, somewhat surprising is the third to last position for poker which has since become a MBBB staple. The reasoning was that it was not deemed a true event, as it is usually only held at night, and only if time permits.

Eugene neglected to cast his votes for either Capture the Flag or Pitch and Putt, presumably because of his past negative experiences with them. Thus, while the vote originally cast Pitch and Putt as one of the Classic Event winners, Eugene's lack of enthusiasm cleared it out of the way to allow MBBB5 favorite Handball to join the Homerun Derby as the top choices. Meanwhile, bowling finished in a surprisingly strong 3rd position.
