Breakfast

Now, here's a great idea! Make breakfast later so we can all get some more sleep before the big day. One of the grand ol' traditions of MBBB, the Merrick Townhouse Diner was once again visited to get the gang off on the right foot. Eggs, pancakes, and an extra cup of coffee is always the best way to get prepared for the day that awaits.

Star Wars: Episode I: The Phantom Menace

The Phantom Menace is the movie that millions have been waiting for and for which some have even waited a lifetime. When it was discovered last year that the newest Star Wars saga would open on Memorial Day, we all knew (er, thought) that it would make for a perfect addition to the MBBB lineup. Unfortunately, this movie was a major let down. It certainly did not live up to anyone's expectations. The curse lives on...

Lunch

On the way to lunch, we spent the time pointing out all the many problems with Episode I. The decision on where to eat lunch was a compromise: two fast food joints in one: the so called Taco Hut. After yet another cinematic disappointment (why does this happen every year?), we hit the Hut and fought over which kind of food was better. Why, pizza of course.

Pitch-and-Putt

It is obvious to see that this year's Bonanza was tailored towards creating as relaxing a day as possible. Whereas past MBBBs relied on intense games of ultimate frisbee and basketball, it was agreed that a more suitable choice for this year would be to concentrate on good times without all the sweat and dirt. 18 holes of golf is about as relaxing as you can get. In this dramatic showdown featuring bird shit, divots, and mishits, the team of Matt, Marc, and Dave defeated Mehr, Euge, and Russ to become the MBBB3 Golf Champions.

Bowling

We started with two teams of three that we thought would be fair. But it turned out to be a slaughter. So, we rearranged the teams and had a better match. Still, there wasn't really any formal competition. So, based on overall performance, Mehr was declared the MBBB3 Bowling Champion.

Bennigan's

The day ended with dinner this year, unlike previous MBBBs which tried to stretch us to the limit. Bennigan's was a good atmosphere for our group, and the desserts were slightly more diverse than at Friendly's.

Notes

    • Adam was forced to drop out for academic reasons.
    • The driving situation consisted of a van, driven by Mehr. The seating in the van was a little cramped, but it was nice to be able to drive around without dividing the group in half.
