MBBB5 Vote

This year, we completed a vote via email. Though there were 7 participants, Eugene was either unavailable or ignoring us so we completed the vote without him. The top four events made the cut in an extremely tight race. As you can see, the 12th place event ended up only 9 points behind the 4th place event.

(Editor's note: The email trail for MBBB5 makes it appear that, as many of Span's least favorite activities were selected, we agreed to include a board game -- one of his favorites -- to compensate. However, the recap for the event does not correspond with this.)

Soon after the vote was completed, the results were announced on February 15, 2001. Matt then split us up into committees for the purpose of creating proposals for each event. Each proposal was to include an elaborate list of specifications (noted below) so that the event would go off seamlessly. We have linked each specific proposal (and amendments) for future MBBB events and our readers.

Specifications

1. Location (primary, plus backup would be nice)

2. Length of time

3. Rules

4. Equipment

5. Cost per person (if applicable)

6. Teams (if necessary)

7. Any other pertinent information (if necessary)

Handball

The committee selected for handball was Matt and Mehr. This was the first proposal submitted and included a couple of amendments. You can view the entire transaction at this link.

Slam Dunk Contest

Mehr and Russ ran the committee for the slam dunk contest due to their knowledge and proficiency in basketball. As with the handball proposal, the original SDC proposal underwent a few changes.

Table Tennis

As avid players of ping pong, David and Marc headed up the proposal for table tennis. (This was sent on or about 03/29/01 via yahoogroups: I need to find it.)

Capture the Flag

Matt worked with Marc on the CTF proposal as Matt had the most (only?) experience playing the game. Here is the proposal.

Board Game

When the committees were originally announced, Span was a natural choice for the board game as he regularly creams the rest of us in all sorts of board games. David was chosen to assist him. However, as mentioned above, it is not clear when the board game was added to MBBB5 and so no official proposal is listed here.
