HWiNFO64.SYS driver wont work after update KB5028254, what should i do? July 30, 2023 Microsoft.com
I updated my windows 11 system with windows cumulative update KB5028254, and when I restarted my computer I got a message saying that driver HWiNFO64A.SYS cannot load, and to fix the problem to contact the maker of the driver - which is windows I think, and see if there is an updated driver available. the problem lies in windows security - device security - core isolation - memory integrity.
if afraid to restart my computer again incase it wont start up again
I think the Core Isolation/Memory Integrity is blocking the HWiNFO64.SYS. ===== work-around: uitschakelen beveiliging....
Did you already try to disable Core Isolation/Memory Integrity from Windows Security?
Open Windows Security > Device Security > clic Core Isolation details > turn off Memory Integrity.
Disabling the Memory Integrity shouldn't result in an unbootable system.
Also, you can just reenable it after installing the program that has the issue.
Do you already have the HWiNFO Version 7.60?
If not, you can download it from the link below.
I had the same problem. I give you the solution I found to solve the problem for me. Maybe it was a leftover from a previous install.
First I reinstalled HWiNFO from : HWiNFO download latest version (fosshub.com).
Personally the problem was still the same after the reboot.
So I decided to proceed with a thorough uninstallation of the program.
I used JV16 PowerTools (Macecraft) to uninstall HWinfo.
in de gratis demo-versie (14 dagen) werd deze service / sys niet gedetecteerd en kon ik die ook nier verwijderen ❌
After rebooting, the problem was solved for me.
Had the same problem, and managed to solve with the help of a Hwinfo admin in their own forum.
Mine was basically a leftover from something I had installed years ago.

You can find the thread here: https://www.hwinfo.com/forum/threads/cannot-remove-old-hwinfo-driver-which-prevents-audio-from-working-9073/
I cannot uninstall the driver, as HWInfo is not showing in Programs, or Apps, or in Program Files. The hwinfo64a.sys file in this folder is the only mention of it I can find in any folder, as I did a file search of the whole machine for “hwinfo”.
There are multiple methods how to remove that driver but it depends which software has installed the driver.
Best would be to run the (old) HWiNFO that's installed on the system, go into main settings, Driver Management and click Remove.
But since you say you can't find HWiNFO installed there, it might be some other outdated software installed that's using the HWiNFO driver. So even if you proceed with the following steps, it can happen that it will try to install it again. In such case you need to find and uninstall that software.
Another alternative to remove the driver is to open the Windows Command Prompt as Administrator and type the following commands: AT a a newer driver which includes version in its name ("HWiNFO_nnn"), so that's why "hwinfo" in "sc" won't work as you need to specify the full name. If you run "sc delete" with the proper name, you'll notice that the key will disappear from registry.
Yes, deleting the registry key should work
sc stop hwinfo
sc delete hwinfo
bij mij werd die service werd deze service / sys niet gedetecteerd en kon ik die ook nier stoppen ❌
The last method is to look in the registry for the exact driver name (it's the key name under Services) and then use it with sc to remove the driver.
open the Registry Editor (regedit), navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services
and delete the HWiNFO key.
verwijderd: testen boot: error message disapperad / gelukt! ✅
Then reboot the machine.
Memory integrity turned back on, and no longer getting the warning upon starting my PC.
