Freeway_Removal

Freeway removal is a public policy of urban planning policy to demolish freeways and create mixed-useurban areas, parks, residential, commercial, or other land uses. Such highway removal is often part of a policy to promote smart growth, transit-oriented development, walkable and bicycle-friendly cities. In some cases freeways are retained as less intrusive and expansive boulevards, retained as freeways within tunnels beneath a city, or relocated through less densely-developed areas.

Freeway removal is a major thing that has happened in my city building project (Jlong Cities Project).

Boulevards and urban design

The roads below have been downgraded to boulevards and parkways with park areas, bike paths, public green space.

Underground relocation

The roads below have been moved underground in tunnels, Mostly staying the same level as land bridges are built over them in areas where the land around the freeway is higher then the freeway.
