Interstate 188 (I-188) is a spur route of I-88 that is better know as (King) Aspen & (Prince) Bramble Parkway. The route used to be a state parkway with the 990A reference number until 2015 when it was upgraded to interstate standards and signed as NY 867. In Aug 2017 the route was signed as again as unsigned route 990A and the NY 867 number was assigned to Kion & Kopa CRs 10 and the Equestria Bypass Beltway (EBB) was also signed onto part of the route. Then in Oct 2017, the NY 990A number was removed and replaced with Interstate 188, a spur of Interstate 88.
The route is named after King Aspen & Prince Bramble from the MLP IDW Comics.
The route began in 1998 as Equestria Northern State Parkway. In 2001 is was renamed (King) Aspen & (Prince) Bramble State Parkway. The road was for passenger cars only until late 2015 when the route was upgraded to interstate standards and signed as New York State Route 867.
The route used to be signed as New York State Route 867. In Aug 2017, NY 867 was moved to Cute Mina Rd (Kion CR 10) & Cute Arizona Rd (Kopa CR 10) and Aspen & Bramble Pkwy became was signed as the unsigned NY Reference Route 990A. It it also concurrent with Equestria Bypass Beltway (EBB) for all its length. Then in Oct 2017, NY Route 990A was dropped and the Interstate 188 number was applied to the Aspen & Bramble Parkway.
