This was an event organised and led by two fathers (Mr. Richard and Mr. Dunhua) from the GESS PTA. Sign up rate was incredible with all places taken up within a couple of days. We increased intake from 24 to 27 pairs limited by available bowling lanes. Participation from our Sec 1 students was very high. The event was held in the afternoon at West Bowl. There was laughter, and high fives with strikes and spares, loud sighs and forlorn looks as balls hit the gutters. A few students and their fathers were interviewed. Mr. Hardi appreciated a day out with his boy as his wife took care of their daughter. King Hang and his dad, Mr. Cheuk, love the outdoors playing one-on-one basketball every evening and enjoyed the occasional bowling game.
Every father-child pair was awarded a trophy for their participation. The 3rd prize went to Mr. Jackson and daughter Charlotte. Charlotte loved the fact that she could beat her dad at the initial game but it was Mr. Jackson's score finally that brought home the win. Mr. Phang and daughter Nicole took the silver award and the winner's trophy went to Mr. Leonard and daughter Juleane. "It was fun but now my arm is aching," said Juleane. GESS PTA President, Mr. Terence Kok, was there to present the winners their trophies. Mr. Dunhua had this to say: " This not only provides bonding opportunity for father and child but also amongst the fathers so we can support each other in the fathering journey."
