WILLIAM JACKSON
Birth Certificate: DANIEL's occupation was given as an agricultural labourer. SARAH JACKSON informed of the birth with an 'x'. The birth was in the sub-district of Charlbury, County of Oxford.
Marriage Certificate: William was of 'full age', Ruth was 19. William's profession was a labourer, and they both lived in Milton. The professions of both of their fathers was also labourer. Ruth did not sign her name, but places an 'x'.
Death Certificate: Ref - 1932/370. WILLIAM's occupation was given as a farmer, and was 89 years old when he died of Syncope and chronic heart disease. His mothers name was not given, but his fathers occupation was given as a labourer.
Buried in the Havelock North Cemetery. Block Name: B, Plot Number: 143H. He was 89 when he died. He was interred on 22 March 1932.
RUTH FRANKLIN
Birth Certificate: Fathers occupation ws a labourer. HANNAH did not sign the birth certificate, but put an 'x'. Her mothers name was HANNAH FRANKLIN formerly SPARKS.
Death Certificate: Ref - 1929/2391. RUTH was 81 years old when she died of abdominal tumour, dropsy of the extremeties and abdomen. Her mother's maiden name was Sparks (without an 'e'?), and her fathers occupation had been a gardner. RUTH was born in Oxford, England, and had been in New Zealand for 55 years. Ages of children when she died: M - 59, 55, 53, 47, 43, 39, F - 62, 61, 57, 41, 37.
Buried in the Havelock North Cemetery. Block Name: B, Plot Number: 143I. She was 81 when she died. She was interred on the 3 July 1929.

Immigration
WILLIAM and RUTH arrived in Napier on 10 July 1874 on the Halcione (1869 tonnes). It sailed from London on 24 March 1874. The Captain was originally Captain Wright, but he was found dead in his bed on 31st May, and buried at sea on 1 June. The First Mate took command of the vessel. On the passenger list, the Jackson family was: William Jackson (31, Oxfordshire, Farm Labourer), Ruth (26), Hannah (6), Emma (5), Henry (3), Sarah (1). It appears from the passenger records that RUTH's family were also on-board (but she was not named).
