Although of an unassuming disposition, the late Mrs Black was an active worker in any good cause. At the age of five years, with her father and mother, she left her birthplace, Leondard Stanley in Gloucestershire, England, and arrived at Nelson towards the end of 1857, where she remained uantil her death last week. Her marriage to Mr Black took place on 10 November, 1879, and for many years Mr and Mrs Black were residents in the city.
