COURSE DESCRIPTION:
An introductory course focusing on the basics of sound design and music creation as it relates to a variety of digital media environments.
COURSE OUTCOMES:
The student will be able to:
1. Understand the use of sound design and music creation and their related copyright issues as it applies to digital media.
2. Diagnose and solve audio related problems.
3. Utilize multiple digital formats and understand the context in which to use them.
4. Understand the basics of microphone use and technology as it relates to sound production.
5. Utilize a software synthesis software program to create an original piece of sound design.
6. Employ Garageband and Soundtrack Pro to create a musical piece, a voiceover, an environmental piece and an audio related project of the student’s choosing.
7. Listen, discuss and evaluate projects as a group then advance the work for a final review.
