COURSE DESCRIPTION:

An extension of DM 231 Sound Design I, focusing on building proficiency in the creation of sound design and music as it applies to digital media applications.

COURSE OUTCOMES:

The student will be able to:

1. Discuss and debate the use of sound design and music creation and their related copyright issues as it applies to digital media.

2. Utilize Garageband, Soundtrack Pro, Reason and Digital Performer to produce sound designs.

3. Create a sound design/music session from preproduction to mastering.

4. Integrate audio with video and/or animation.

5. Utilize hardware in conjunction with software to maximize sound creation options.

6. Create a final piece incorporating aspects of music, microphone use and sound design to include in the student’s portfolio.

7. Communicate a self-designed sound project concept in concise verbal, visual, and written formats.

8. Listen, discuss and evaluate projects as a group with the purpose of creating constructive ideas for future improvement.

9. Listen, discuss and evaluate projects as a group with then advance the work for a final review.
