HADITH OF THE DAY
TAHNIK
Narrated by Abu Musa
A son was born to me and I took him to the Prophet (Peace & Blessings of Allah upon Him) who named him Ibrahim, did Tahnik for him with a date, invoked Allah to bless him and returned him to me.
Tahnik - is an Islamic ceremony of touching the lips of a newborn baby with honey, sweet juice or pressed dates (on the day of Birth). Originally the date was softened by mastication by the pious person and rubbed on the infant's palate.
