HADITH OF THE DAY
3 OF 5 ISLAMIC PILLARS
Narrated by Ibn Abbas
The Prophet (Peace and Blessings of Allah Upon Him) sent Muadh to Yemen & said,
“Invite the people to Testify that none has the right to be Worshipped but Allah & I am (i.e. Mohammad) Allah’s Messenger [ Pillar 1 - Shahada ], & if they obey you to do so,
Then teach them that Allah has enjoined on them 5 Prayers in every day & night [ Pillar 2 - Salat ], & if they obey you to do so,
Then teach them Allah has made it obligatory for them to pay the Zakat [ Pillar 3 - Zakat ] from their property & it is to be taken from the wealthy among them & given to the poor.”
