HADITH OF THE DAY
FOR EACH & EVERY MATTER
Narrated by Jabir
The Prophet (Peace & Blessings of Allah upon Him) used to teach us the Istikhara for each and every matter as he used to teach us the Suras from the Holy Quran.
He used to say, "If anyone of you intends to do something, he should offer a 2 Rakat prayer other than the obligatory prayer, and then say:
اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْتَخِيرُكَ بِعِلْمِكَ وَأَسْتَقْدِرُكَ بِقُدْرَتِكَ وَأَسْأَلُكَ مِنْ فَضْلِكَ الْعَظِيمِ فَإِنَّكَ تَقْدِرُ وَلَا أَقْدِرُ وَتَعْلَمُ وَلَا أَعْلَمُ وَأَنْتَ عَلَّامُ الْغُيُوبِ اللَّهُمَّ إِنْ كُنْتَ تَعْلَمُ أَنَّ هَذَا الْأَمْرَ خَيْرٌ لِي فِي دِينِي وَمَعَاشِي وَعَاقِبَةِ أَمْرِي فَاقْدُرْهُ لِي وَيَسِّرْهُ لِي ثُمَّ بَارِكْ لِي فِيهِ وَإِنْ كُنْتَ تَعْلَمُ أَنَّ هَذَا الْأَمْرَ شَرٌّ فِي دِينِي وَمَعَاشِي وَعَاقِبَةِأَمْرِي فَاصْرِفْهُ عَنِّي وَاصْرِفْنِي عَنْهُ وَاقْدُرْ لِيَ الْخَيْرَ حَيْثُ كَانَ ثُمَّ ارْضِنِي بِهِ
'O Allah! I ask guidance from Your Knowledge, & Power from Your Might & I ask for Your great Blessings. You are capable & I am not. You know & I do not & You know the unseen. O Allah! If You know that this job is Good for my Religion & my subsistence & in my Hereafter. Then You ordain it for me & make it easy for me to get & then bless me in it, and if You know that this job is harmful to me in my Religion & subsistence & in the Hereafter then keep it away from me & let me away from it. And Ordain for me whatever is good for me, And make me Satisfied with it'
