HADITH OF THE DAY
CIRCUMAMBULATION AROUND KABA
Narrated by Ibn Umar
The Prophet (Peace & Blessings of Allah upon Him) reached Mecca, circumambulated the Kaba 7 times and then offered a 2 Rakat prayer behind Maqam Ibrahim. Then he went towards the Safa. Allah has said, "Verily, in Allah's Messenger you have a good example."
Note: Circumambulation (of Kaba) is performed in Anti-clock wise manner. This Circumambulation is believed to demonstrate the unity of the believers in the worship of the One God.
Types of Tawaf:
1. Tawaf al-Qudum is performed by those not residing in Mecca once reaching the Holy city
2. Tawaf at-Tahiyah is performed after entering the Masjid al-Haram at any other times
3. Tawaf al-Umrah refers to the tawaf performed specifically for Umrah
4. Tawaf al-Wada is performed before leaving Mecca
5. Tawaf az-Ziyarah is performed after casting stones, sacrificing animal & shaving hair
