HADITH OF THE DAY
FORBIDDEN TO SPEAK DURING FRIDAY KHUTBA
Narrated by Abu Huraira
Allah’s Messenger (Peace and Blessings of Allah Upon Him) said, “When the Imam is delivering the Khutba (Friday Sermon), & you ask your companion to keep quiet & listen, then no doubt you have done an evil act.”
Note: It is Offensive to Speak during the Friday Sermon, whether it be to command the Right or forbid the Wrong. The Reason for this Prohibition is that Listening to the Friday Sermon is Obligatory, as it takes the place of 2 of the Rakahs of the noon prayer, so things Offensive during the Prayer are Offensive while Listening to the Sermon.
