HADITH OF THE DAY
BOWING & PROSTRATION
Narrated by Zaid bin Wahb
Hudhaifa saw a person who was not performing the ‘Bowing’ (Ruku) & ‘Prostrations’ (Sajdah) perfectly. He said to him, “You have not Prayed & if you should die you would die on a Religion other than that of Muhammad (Peace and Blessings of Allah Upon Him).”
Note: Ruku is the sign of Courtesy (Adab) while the Sujdah is the symbol of Nearness (Qurb) to Allah. If you do not perform the gesture of Courtesy properly, you cannot be ready for the stage of Nearness.
RUKU – During Ruku the blessed Back of Prophet would be so bent & so straight that if a drop of water was poured on his back, it would remain in the centre of his back and not fall to either side.
SAJDAH – During Sajdah the hands must be placed parallel to the Ears. For Men, the elbows must not be placed on the ground & must remain open on both sides like wings. Along with Forehead Nose must be placed on the ground.
