This fortnight's theme: FIGURATIVE LANGUAGE!
But what is it?
Figurative language is when you use a word or phrase that does not have its normal everyday, literal meaning.
There are a few different ways to use figurative language, including metaphors, similes, personification and hyperbole.
Over the next two weeks we will be looking at these ways in in lots of different subjects - it is in absolutely everything!
Because we are doing narrative writing, now is a great time to delve right into figurative language because writers use figurative language to make their work more interesting or more dramatic than literal language which simply states facts.
- Similes and Metaphors:
Both of these are comparisons but only simile uses like or as. Check this video out and it will become very clear, the differences between these two!
