Origami Bookmarks

Origami is the Japanese art of folding paper into decorative shapes and figures. Today we will be making bookmarks for World Book Day using this technique!

Step 1: Take your piece of paper, ruler and pencil and measure out a square that is 6" x 6"

Step 2: Cut out your square and lay it down on a flat surface.

Step 3: Twist your paper around so it is a diamond.

Step 4: Bring the bottom corner up to the top corner and fold into a triangle.

Step 5: Bring one of the bottom corners of your triangle up to meet the top corner.

Step 6: Repeat the last step with the other corner.

Step 7: Open up the last folds you made so you are back to the original triangle.

Step 8: Fold the top point of the triangle down, using only the *top* layer of paper.

Step 9: Fold one corner back up and tuck it into the “pocket” created in the last step.

Step 10: Repeat the last step on the other side.

Step 11: Draw your favourite book character's face on your origami bookmark!
